Insatlling the Ardunio IDE on a Banana Pi/Armbian

The simplest way is to use "apt-get install ardunio". Howver this installs an old version of Ardunio IDE and you should/will be wanting the latest.

Download the latest version of the IDE from the Arduino website, downloading it to somewhere convenient on your Pi e.g. /home/yourusername. Choose the Linux ARM version from....

https://www.arduino.cc/en/Main/Software

Once downloaded, loginto the Pi..

Unpack the .tar.xz file...

$ sudo tar -xvf arduino-1.8.5-linuxarm.tar.xz

Change directory to the unpacked files... (in my case 'ardunio-1.8.5')...

$ cd arduino-1.8.5

... and then install ...

$ ./install.sh

Your Ardunio IDE should be ready to use ...
